This session will involve drawing a plant using charcoal, conte and chalk pastel (inspired by Jim Dine -see image below).
Supplies: vine charcoal, black conte crayon, chalk pastels, rag, eraser, watercolour brush #10 round, pad of pastel paper 11 x 17, container of water.

This week’s focus is abstract architecture using conte crayon. We will make an abstract interior drawing and an abstract cityscape.
Materials needed: black (2B if possible) and white conte crayon (see image below), vine charcoal, ruler, eraser, rag. “Conte” is a brand name and refers to many products. This is what a conte crayon looks like:

This week we will be doing drawings of plants using pen and brush with ink.
Materials needed: bowl-point pen nib (see image below), nib holder, small or medium bamboo brush, India ink, paper towel, two small containers with water (to be used for ink “washes”) and flowers or plants (dried up plants in your garden would work well for this project). It is best to have 3-4 individual flowers or plants (as opposed to a potted plant).

For the first session of the new year, we will be drawing seashells with pencil and watercolour from historical seashell drawings.
Materials needed: sketchbook, H and 2B pencil, sketchbook, set of watercolours, #10 or #12 round watercolour brush, palette to mix paint, watercolour paper (could be a watercolour sketchbook).
