Draw by Drawing Aug 30
Subject: Ocean drawing with graphite pencils inspired by Vija Celmins (below)
Materials needed: a range of graphite pencils (9B, 8B, 7B, 6B, 5B, 3B, 2B, B), eraser, pencil sharpener, ruler, soft rag, 11 x 14″ all-purpose sketchbook (or a sheet of good drawing paper 11 x 14″). We will be working on only one drawing this session so it would be a good opportunity to use a higher quality of paper such as Stonehenge or BFK Rives (however a sketchbook is fine).

Draw by Drawing Aug 2, 10-11:30am
Subject: Soft Pastels in the style of Monet’s Waterlillies
Materials needed: set of soft pastels (12), coloured pastel paper (11 x 17″), eraser, soft cloth, blending stump

Draw by Drawing July 19, 10-11:30am
Subject: Pencil and watercolour landscape drawing in the style of Paul Cezanne
Materials needed: HB pencil, set of watercolour paints, #4 and # 12 watercolour brush, watercolour pad (9 x 12″), container of water, palette or plastic lids to mix paint on.

Draw by Drawing July 5, 10am-11:30am
Subject: Pen & Ink landscape drawing in the style of Vincent van Gogh
Materials needed: bowl-pointed nib for drawing, black ink, 11 x 14 sketchbook, ruler, pencil, Paper towel.
Any kind of black pen can be used in lieu of the bowl-point nib and ink.
See attached image so you know what a bowl-pointed nib looks like (local art supply stores will sell you a calligraphy nib rather than looking to see if they have a “bowl pointed” nib). This nib has a good point for drawing and can hold a fair amount of ink.
