Draw by Drawing March 16, 10-11:30pm

This week’s session is focused on abstract topographic map drawing. This is a great way to learn how to draw beautiful and confident lines with pen and conte crayon. We will be doing two drawings: one with ink and pencil on white paper and another with white conte crayon (or white pastel) on black paper.

Materials: sketchbook 14 x 17 or sheet of smooth drawing paper around that size, bowl-point nib, nib holder and black ink (or any fine black pen you have on hand), 1/4 sheet of black pastel paper (approx 12 x 15″), white conte, graphite pencils, eraser, ruler and pencil sharpener. If you don’t have black paper you can use another colour or just use white paper and black conte crayon.

There always seems to be confusion about what a “bowl-point nib” is -it is a nib you dip into ink that is made by Staedtler and is designed for drawing. They are available at both Island Blue and Opus.
